Business Scale
Annual revenue and number of legal entities are the two biggest drivers of controller complexity.

Each entity requires separate books, reconciliations, and inter-company eliminations.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why isn't controller pricing a flat rate?
Controller work scales with the complexity of your business — revenue, number of entities, reporting cadence, debt structure, inventory, and the depth of analysis you need. A single-entity service business and a multi-entity manufacturer with covenant reporting require very different levels of effort, so a flat rate would either overcharge simple businesses or underserve complex ones.
What's the difference between a bookkeeper and a controller?
A bookkeeper records and reconciles transactions. A controller owns the monthly close, reviews the work for accuracy, builds reporting, runs variance and cash-flow analysis, and gives you the financial visibility to make decisions. Controllers operate at a strategic level on top of clean books.
Is this estimate a final quote?
No. This is a planning estimate based on the inputs you provide. Final pricing is confirmed after a complimentary discovery call where we assess your systems, current state, and exact scope, then tailor the engagement.
What does "Discovery Call Required" mean?
If your complexity score exceeds our standard estimator range (81+ points), your situation is best scoped through a conversation rather than a calculator. These engagements start at $5,000/mo and are quoted after a discovery call — they're often where our most impactful work happens.
